What is Berlin Sciences?
Talks with representatives of the science and business communities have shown that Berlin’s many strategic advantages will continue to make it an ideal location for science and research in the future. A well-functioning network helps to further integrate and expand these existing advantages. As part of this network, the Berlin Sciences portal aims to strengthen the city’s scientific vitality and support the notion of science as a key business factor.
Berlin Sciences is a project undertaken by the Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Technology and Women’s Issues together with the various science and research institutions in Berlin. Berlin Partner GmbH – the agency responsible for capital city marketing and business development – is responsible for carrying out the project.
What exactly does Berlin Sciences do?
The Berlin Sciences portal is geared toward the business community and offers an overview of Berlin’s diverse scientific landscape. Companies looking for cooperation partners from the field of science and those planning to set up operations in the capital are given ideas, network addresses, contact opportunitites and financing information.
At the same time, Berlin Sciences functions as a central platform for scientists and research institutions interested in presenting and garnering interest in their projects among potential cooperation partners and investors. As a portal, Berlin Sciences functions as a meeting point between science, business, society and politics.
Why was Berlin Sciences created?
Berlin is one of the largest and most diverse science regions in Europe.
Academic and non-university research institutions work closely together with local companies. And yet, Berlin’s true scientific potential often goes unnoticed at the national and international level. Where can I read about success stories and which criteria should my own success story fulfill?
You’ll find a list of successful scientific projects in the “Facts” section under “Success Stories”. Your project must have a very concrete relation to Berlin, i.e. it must be the product of collaboration between representatives of the Berlin science community and the Berlin business community. Ideally, your project should be able to be categorized in one of Berlin’s major fields of innovation. The product should also be either on the market or about to enter the market.
